A site, website, or web site, is a central location of various web pages that are all related and can be accessed by visiting the home page using a browser. For example, the Computer Hope website address is http://www.suza.ac.tz
HOW TO OPEN A WEBSITE
To view
a website requires a browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Edge, Safari, Firefox, or
Chrome). For example, you are reading this web page using a browser. Once in a
browser, you can open a website by entering the URL in the address bar. For
example, typing "http://www.computerhope.com" opens the Computer Hope
home page. If you don't know the URL of the website you want to visit, you can
use a search engine to find the website on the Internet.
WEBPAGE:
A web page or webpage is a document
commonly written in HyperText Markup Language (HTML) that is accessible through
the Internet or other network using an Internet browser. A web page is accessed
by entering a URL address and may contain text, graphics, and hyperlinks to
other web pages and files. The page you are reading now is an example of a web
page.
REQUIREMENT BEFORE CREATING WEBSITE:
1- DOMAIN NAME AND REGISTRATION:
Every domain name has a suffix that indicates which top level domain (TLD) it belongs to. There are only a limited number of such domains. For example:
· gov - Government agencies
· edu - Educational institutions
· org - Organizations (nonprofit)
· mil - Military
· com - commercial business
· net - Network organizations
·
ca - Canada
In Tanzania TZNIC are responsible
for registering a website domain name.
2- WEB HOST:
Web Hosting is the service providing space on the Internet for websites.
When you make a website and want other people to see it, you will need to publish (or upload) it with a web hosting service.
